A reunion of teachers and former students of Hindi Department was held on 9th August 2014 at Dr. Yuhanon Mar Thoma Hall, St. Thomas College Kozhencherry. Shri Anto Antony M.P, the Chief Guest inaugurated the function and announced to give a computer to the Department of Hindi from the M.P Fund. The Department website was launched by the college Principal Prof. Dr. Roys P. David. Former teachers of the department Prof. K.M. Varghese, Prof. M.T. Koshy, Prof. N.A George, Prof. Elizabeth M. Ninan were honoured in the function with a ponnada.
Meritorious former students Ms. Sangeetha R who cleared SET, Ms. Arpana Isaac who won 1st rank for M.Phil of CUSAT and Ms. Rinu Elizabeth Philip who won 4th rank in CAT, CUSAT were also felicitated. The main function was followed by a cultural programme of degree 1st 2nd and 3rd year students. Dance, one act play, group song, duet etc were presented by students. An executive committee of the former students was formed with Mr. Anson Thomas as President, Mr. Anto Alex John as Secretary and Ms. Tina Anu Thomas as Joint Secretary. Dr. Jenu Mary Mathews was unanimously elected as the Treasurer. The Hindi Sangam meeting was presided by Dr. Sheena Eapen, Head of the Department. Dr. Mini Rachel Thomas, Dr. Jenu Mary Mathews, Prof. Mini Varghese, Sanish Mathew, Anson Thomas, Arpana Isaac, Anto Alex John, Vineeth Kumar V, Teena Anu Thomas, Sajini R and Sabith P Anand spoke on the occassion
Inauguration of the Hindi Association and the Hindi Sampreshan Kaushal Course
The inauguration of Hindi Association was followed by the inauguration of Hindi Sampreshan Kaushal Course on 21st August 2014. The Chief Guest of the function Smt. K. Girija Nambiar, educationist and career counsellor stressed the importance of Hindi in technology. The Hindi Sampreshan Kaushal Course or the Communicative skills development programme was inaugurated by the college Principal Prof. Dr. Roys P. David. Trophies were distributed to the toppers of the outgoing BA Hindi batch, to Ms. Athira Sasikumar, Sajini R, Kanchana M and Arya Harikumar.
The topper Athira Sasikumar was given the cash prize of Rs. 1500/- instituted by Dr. Sheena Eapen in memory of her late father Shri Eapen Prakash Mathew, Parakkamannil. Dr. Sheena Eapen Presided over the meeting. Prof. Mini Varghese, Dr. Jenu Mary Mathews, Dr. K. Asha, Princy Alex, Sneha Surendran Nair, Nithin P.B and Anjana Rose George spoke on the occasion. The inaugural session was followed by a training session on communicative skills for students and teachers of the department. The session was led by Mrs. Girija Nambiar, both chief guest and trainer.
Film Studies
The students of the Film Studies open course have made a documentary on river Pampa; 'Pampayude Katha', a short film named 'Stories of Generations,' a docufiction on River Varattar named 'Punarjani' and a one minute short film named 'Dreams.' The film studies course provided a small opportunity to practise what the students learnt about the technical aspects of film. The students are utilising this opportunity since 2011.
